The New Year

so this is the new year.
and i don't feel any different.
the clanking of crystal
explosions off in the distance (in the distance).

so this is the new year
and I have no resolutions
for selfl assigned penance
for problems with easy solutions

so everybody put your best suit or dress on
let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once
lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn
as thirty dialogues bleed into one

i wish the world was flat like the old days
then i could travel just by folding a map
no more airplanes, or speedtrains, or freeways
there'd be no distance that can hold us back.

there'd be no distance that could hold us back

so this is the new year

Compared with New Years past this one turned out pretty good. I slept pretty late, had the house to myself, ate pizza, and chatted online with two of my oldest friends, Channy and Andrew.

Channy was online right around midnight my time, because it's earlier where she is. So she rang in the new year with me, while filling me in on her holidays.

Andrew came online about an hour later and we talked for 6 hours! we swapped our favorite mp3s and he showed me a great new script he was working on. It was so nice to just "hang out" like the old days. Except we're across the country from each other. We spent a lot of time reminiscing about the past.

Then I checked my account and my pay did indeed come through as promised, with overtime! So I can pay some bills, and possibly have some spending cash left over too.

In any case, please check out my other New Years Entry:

Happy New Year, Happy Anniversary!!!
