Falling Off The Wagon Hurts... A Lot

Remember when I told you about the rich drunk guy (henceforth known as RDG) Well, it turns out that my aunt is making an impromptu visit to the west coast because in the process of dropping off his daughter at the boarding school, he decided it would be a good idea to spend the entire week drinking.

She got a call from his hotel that they were having problems with him and wanted him to leave. She's 17 years old. She should not have to deal with that. Not knowing what to do, she contacted my aunt, who now has to take extra time off work for a "family emergency".

This kid is trying so hard to do well, to make her father proud. She's involved in almost every club, organization and student commitee she can be, her marks are phenominal, she speaks three languages. The only thing she wanted was to have a normal dad.

To make matters worse, she told him before they left here that she didn't want him to go with her to school, because he embarasses her when he's drunk. He stopped drinking for three days before they left. He was sober on the monday when they got to school (the 5th) and hasn't been sober since.

That fucking irresponsible, self-absorbed, shithead is throwing everything away. If he wants to screw up his own life, there's not a lot anyone can do about it, we can try, but ultimately its his life. But to do this to his only daughter. He claims she's the only good thing in his life. Maybe he'll take the hint when she refuses to see him, to take his calls, his money. Maybe then he'll realize what he's risked. There's no happy endings.
